Mental health, eating behaviour and injuries in professional dance students

A high frequency of mental health challenges and injuries in professional dancers necessitate a better understanding the complexity such symptoms, to explore differences according sex, academic year performance levels. Professional dance students were recruited evaluate symptoms depression anxiety (SCL-10), resilience (RSA), self-esteem (RSS), perfectionism (CAPS), body appreciation (BAS-2), low energy availability (LEA, LEAF-q) eating disorders (ED) (EDE-q). Totally 20–54% had or depression, LEA (in females), ED and/or injuries, 12% self-reported history with ED. In females, 44% variability SCL-10 was explained by CAPS RSS; 15% EDE-q training volume; while BMI, increased odds ratio an injury. all, BAS-2 reduced -3.33. 50% reported that they could identify personal problems, still <45% would consult professional. Enhanced acceptance may reduce dancers, improved knowledge nutrition weight regulation LEA, disordered behaviour, injuries.
